7. Councillors' Items

Item submitted from Councillor Crooks.

1.     To report on the first results of the Brooklands Community Speed Watch Initiative and to ask the Cabinet to support a request to Thames Valley Police for a speed camera on Fen Street.

2.     To present a plan for Fen Street.

3.     To present a plan for the Newport Road.

4.     To request an update on the Council's plans for Countess Way.

Councillors to ask questions of the Leader of the Council or a Cabinet Member on issues within their Portfolio.

9(a) References from Other Bodies

Council - 22 November 2017:  Regeneration:MK - Reassurance to Residents

3(b)     Cabinet be asked to clarify policy, in particular ensuring that the referendum offers residents the final say on any proposals, and consider recommending to Council:

(i)       that the ballot contains a clear YES or NO option;

(ii)      that Milton Keynes Council's Electoral Services should conduct the referendum;

(iii)     that only those on the electoral roll in each regeneration area should be able to vote;

(iv)     that in conformity with the motion passed by Council on 15 July 2015 (Minute CL42 refers), the electoral franchise should include all young people aged 16 years and over; and

(v)     that every effort is made to ensure registration on affected estates is improved before any ballot.

3(d)     Cabinet be asked to reaffirm the commitment that existing Council tenants will be offered accommodation at least equal to their current circumstances (in room number), unless they explicitly wish otherwise.

3(e)     Cabinet be asked to reaffirm the commitment that new social housing will meet Parker Morris space standards.

Reduction in Car Parking Income Task and Finish Group

To consider the report of the Reduction in Car Parking Income Task and Finish Group (Item 9(b)).

Audit Committee - 28 November 2017:  Hertsmere Leisure Contract Review

1.     That the Cabinet be asked to consider a future delivery / ownership model for community facilities which allows for the asset to the be harnessed for the benefit of the community in the most effective way.

2.     That, noting that the Council already uses 'mystery shoppers' to assess its services, the Cabinet be requested to consider how customers' satisfaction / views on levels of service at the Council's Leisure / Community facilities can be assessed, possibly using the methodology used by 'Quest' when conducting customers' satisfaction surveys for the Council.
